Located in Kinigi, Rwanda,Gorilla Doctors Kinigiis a holding quarantine facility for rescued orphan gorillas. It is run by Gorilla Doctors, an organization that has one more quarantine facility in Goma (Democratic Republic of Congo) with same characteristics as the one placed at Kinigi but that is currently empty. Gorilla Doctors provides life-saving medical care to the critically endangered mountain and Grauer's gorillas of Rwanda, Uganda, and Democratic Republic of Congo. Gorilla Doctors Kinigi moved all its gorillas to Congo in July 2011 to a newly built facility called GRACE. At that moment, the centre was closed, but less than a month later of the transfer of their gorillas, a new orphan Grauer gorilla was rescued in Rwanda and it was deceided to move her to this quarantine facility.
Gorilla Doctors Kinigi's facility consists on an outdoor enclosure provided with ropes, tree trunks and tires to motivate gorillas' climbing and movement, surrounded by a bricks fence. There are also some indoor quarantine cages used for introductions or to place recent-arrived gorillas to the centre.
