Founded back in 1948, Zoo a Zamek Zlin-Lesna is a 52 hectares animal park located 10 kilometres away from Zlin State. They are home to about 1170 animals of 200 different species, including giraffes, african elephants, rhinos, penguins, sea lions and many others. This zoo is member of EAZA, WAZA or UCSZ between others. Their first and only gorillas arrived to the zoo in 1997, they were a couple called Yehudit and Bosso that arrived from Ramat Gan and that unfornately never got to breed, maybe due to the female's old age, as she was the oldest gorilla in the Czech Republic at the time she died, 48 years old.
